Home to one of the largest science centers in the America, Tampa’s Museum of Science and Industry  (MOSI) allows you to expand knowledge, explore curiosity and increase your love of science!

AT MOSI, have the chance to ride in the first driver-less car in North America, learn how to instruct electricity to follow your commands, step into the future so much more! With over 450 interactive activities and exhibits, MOSI provides the ultimate educational experience for all age groups.

There are exhibits specifically tailored towards adults and children, such as the “Kid’s in Charge area” which consists of a range of activates designed for children aged 12 and under. There are also many of hands on activities and exhibits that families can enjoy together, a including roller- coster simulation, the Florida hospital IMAX Dome theater, the Saunders Planetarium,  the idea zone and more.

Science camp programmers are also offered for primary and secondary school children, whereby staff members at MOSI teach and encourage science in a fun and engaging way.

Be sure to check out opening times before you go as certain days of the week may close early/be closed subject to season changes and repair of exhibits.

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo

Tampa Lowry Park Zoo is currently one of the most popular and family-friendly zoo’s in America, featuring over 1,200 animals. With a heavy focus on animal conservation, the zoo provides the ultimate sanctuary for many threatened and endangered creatures.

Enjoy hands on animal encounters, behind the scene tours and keeper presentations where you have the opportunity to find out interesting facts and learn more about the lives these animals endure.

The park is split into several themed areas covering Asia, Australia, Africa and Florida wildlife. Step into exhibits such as the Asian gardens, featuring endangered big cats and bears and Safari Africa, home to White Rhinos, Elephants, Meerkats, Giraffes and much more! Other exhibits include Primate world, Wallaroo station and carousel circle.

At Tampa Lowry Park Zoo, you can also learn about and watch conservation work in action as the Zoo’s animal care team look after vulnerable, sick and wounded manatees.

Adventure Island

Just across the street from Tampa’s famous Bush Gardens theme park is its very own Adventure Island, a tropical themed water park.

Made up of a range of water rides and sandy tropical surroundings, this family-friendly destination a great place to splash about or relax under the scorching sun. Popular rides includes Riptide, Carribbean Corkscrew and the Calypso Coaster.

There are also water attractions tailored towards children including the Paradise Lagoon – a tropical setting with slides and waterfalls, and Splash attack – featuring a massive tree house containing over 50 water toys and gadgets, you are sure to get soaked!

And if that wasn’t enough, there is also an area to play in the sand, or relax in deck chairs and cozy cabanas.

Further enjoy a range of snacks and dining areas provided around the park as well as the Island Surf Shop where you can pick up all your essentials from swimsuits to sun lotion to souvenirs and more.

Glazer Children’s Museum

Glazer Children museum is the ultimate place where children can find and discover the world around them in a fun, yet learning environment. Covering 53 thousand square feet, this museum provides many interactive stations and exhibits for young children to explore and let their imaginations run wild! (primarily targeted towards children 6 and under).

The museum is divided into 12 themed sections such as the “Get Moving Section” -where kids will get their energy racing as they take part in racing a rabbit, becoming a virtual goalkeeper and/or tackling a mini rock climbing wall.

Other popular areas include the “Airplane” exhibit, where children can become a pilot and fly over new York and Tampa, the “Water’s Journey” exhibit which educates about the sky’s water cycle, and “The Kids Network”, where children can control the museums news cameras and have the chance to give a weather report in front of a green screen.

Ybor City

At Centro Ybor, you will be surrounded by many restaurants, shops and bars. Cuban cuisine is commonly found here with the popular Columbia restaurant featuring traditional Cuban-Spanish dishes.   There is also a large entertainment center – GameTime – which consist of four mini bowling lanes, a sports bar, and a large arcade featuring over 100 interactive games.

Ybor city is largely known for its historical culture heritage and provides two main tours of the cities history; take the chance to visit the Ybor City Museum State park where you can familiarise yourself with the areas cultural background and learn how it gained the title of the “cigar capital of the world”.

Further visit the AL Lopez House where you can learn all about Tampa’s baseball history and achievements.   And that’s not all! Ybor city is also home to a thriving nightlife! Located on 7th Avenue, you will find a selection of entertainment including bars and restaurants as well music, comedy and nightclubs. Popular night clubs include Chic Dance Hideaways, LGBT Havens and Hipster Haunts. Prepare for a night to remember!
